How to Make the Perfect Cup of Tea
1. Select Your Tea
The first step to making tea is to get some tea. There are two types of tea you can brew.
- Tea bags are cheap and easy to use, but contain Low quality tea and don't allow much room for the leaves to brew.
- Loose leaf tea consists of higher quality whole-leaf tea. They take a bit more effort to make, but the result is worth it.
2. The Right Water
The quality of water used can have a huge impact on your tea. Tea flavors vary depending on pH levels in your water.
3. The Heat Water
We need to heat our water to a specific temperature to properly brew the tea. Avoid re-boiling or overboiling water as it can affect the amount of dissolved gasses in the water.
- Classic kettles - track water temperature with food thermometer
- Electric kettles - higher end models have thermometers built in.
4. Steep the Tea
Infusing your tea for the right amount of time and at the correct temperature allows you to achieve the optimal balance of flavors. See BREWING GUIDE
